Genesis Camp
Genesis Camp began in 2010 as a week-long creation-apologetics program for students. The goal was to give young people more than a lecture series: the camp combined biblical teaching with science, hands-on activities, games, demonstrations, field trips, and group experiences so that students could explore questions about origins in an immersive setting.
The program worked through subjects such as astronomy, biology, geology, paleontology, biblical history, and archaeology, emphasizing the relevance of Genesis to the rest of Scripture and to the way students understood the natural world. Some camp themes were structured as expeditions or journeys, allowing each day to focus on a different place or subject while still contributing to one larger story.
Genesis Camp’s principal accomplishment was developing a repeatable, multi-year youth-education model that blended classroom teaching with active learning. Rather than asking students only to listen, the program gave them opportunities to investigate, make things, travel to field locations, ask questions, and connect biblical ideas with what they were learning in science and history.
The camps were based in Los Angeles, California, and ran across multiple years. Although current camp dates and registration are not being offered on this page, the project remains an important part of GCSI’s history of student education and experiential teaching.
Founded in 2010, Genesis Camp was a week-long creation apologetics camp designed to teach students about the world God created and how they could understand and defend their faith.
The camp incorporated teaching, demonstrations, songs, games, crafts, and field trips to keep the material active and engaging.
The program focused on the importance and relevance of the Bible beginning in Genesis. Students studied creation science and history, including biblical perspectives on astronomy, biology, geology, paleontology, and related subjects.
One planned camp theme was a Global Expedition Treasure Hunt, with each day “traveling” to a different location around the world and including a full day devoted to biblical archaeology.
The program included multiple years of camps, field activities, and student experiences in Los Angeles, California.
